Fri, 13 May 2022 PILLARS OF ETERNITY II: FIRST IMPRESSIONS My initial experience with the first 4 hours of Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire have been pretty solid. I opted to select the "turn-based" combat system when I started up PoE for the first time. After sinking roughly 2 hours into that mode, I realized that endgame battles might end up being quite a slog. I've now started a new character (a wizard named "Red Cloak") using the default "real-time with pause" combat system. So far it seems a lot more streamlined and feels like it is the "correct" way to play. My goal is to keep Red Cloak as a _good_ character but I always seem to drift towards evil story choices. They seem more interesting 90% of the time. The story is a little difficult to pick-up at first (having not played the original) but the depth of the party members and supporting characters is brilliant. My hope is that the quality continues until the credits roll. If anything this has just made me more excited for the release of Obsidian's upcoming "Avowed". * * * Subscribe via RSS: Posts > tdarb.org/feeds/posts.xml Notes > tdarb.org/feeds/notes.xml Help pay for hosting costs: https://www.nearlyfreespeech.net/contribute/tdarb.org (code: tdarb) Maintained with love for the web.
